A Tribute to Mothers

By |May 3rd, 2021|Categories: General, motherhood|Comments Off on A Tribute to Mothers

Happy Mother’s Day!  It has been a rough year for most of the mom’s who are raising a child with Special Needs.  I “tip my hat” to you and hope you feel honored--especially on this day. I’ve spoken with a lot of moms through the years and although they love being a mom, many of them will say they are “exhausted”, feel “overlooked” and struggle with being a “guilt magnet”.  Maybe some of you feel this way on occasion. Do you ever wonder if mothers have always felt that way or is this a recent phenomenon? Did moms feel that [...]

Spectacular Sunset!

By |February 26th, 2020|Categories: faith, General, perspective, thankful, Uncategorized|10 Comments

I’ve always been a sucker for a beautiful sunset.  I’ve been known to pull off to the side of the road just to take a picture of one. I think my first purchased piece of art was of a sunset, my phone is filled with sunset pictures and, of course, my favorite color is orange! I find sunsets to be … well, magical. I think the reason I am so taken by sunsets is that it is clear evidence of something only God can do. Man can and has made many beautiful things, but in my opinion, none that can [...]

Happy Valentine’s Day!

By |February 14th, 2020|Categories: General, listening, love, relationships, Uncategorized|Comments Off on Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! You can’t have a Marriage Blog and not have an entry regarding Valentine’s Day - the day set aside to celebrate romantic love! Advertisers and retailers would like you to believe that Valentine’s Day has to do with gifts of chocolate, jewelry, flowers and lingerie. Networks are busy flooding the airways with saccharine sweet love stories.  And while all of this is a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, we all know that it takes more than gifts and romance to make love last. But what does it take to make a love last? What enables a [...]

Using Our Story for His Glory

By |January 11th, 2020|Categories: faith, General|Comments Off on Using Our Story for His Glory

Recently, we were asked to speak at an event for parents raising a child with special needs.  They asked us to follow their theme of “Using Our Story for His Glory”. In several of our past Blogs, we have written about the blessings that have come as a result of Mary, our daughter, being exactly who she is.  While we’ve talked about the difficulties of raising a child with special needs, we have also discussed how God has used Mary and us, not despite our situation, but because of it. See previous blogs ("Because of Mary", "Happiness and Success Through [...]

2020 Vision

By |January 2nd, 2020|Categories: General, perspective, priorities|2 Comments

Happy New Year! Can you believe that it is the year 2020?  With a year named 2020, perhaps our New Year’s resolutions should be something like, “to have a clear vision, improved insight or balance in my life”.  While these are all great goals or resolutions, we encourage you this year to have an additional resolve --- to make your marriage a priority. Making your marriage a priority is one of those ideas that most people agree on, but unfortunately place it on the back burner to concentrate on more immediate concerns.  In the “hectic-ness” of life, it is understandable [...]

O Holy Night

By |December 14th, 2019|Categories: General, holidays, perspective, Uncategorized|5 Comments

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is hearing and singing Christmas carols.  There is something comforting about the familiarity of the carols and how we are still singing the same songs that we sang as children. My absolute favorite Christmas carol is “O Holy Night.”  I’m not sure why, but I love to sing it—especially on Christmas Eve.  One line in the song says, “a thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices.” As I listen to the news this evening with its political polarization, mass shootings and unrest in the world, I am reminded that we indeed are a weary [...]
